Tamara M. Ween

Tammy Ween 3Tammy Ween 3
Tamara M. Ween is Temple Emanu-El’s Youth and Family Programs Director since 2006. Tamara (or Tammy, as she is known to most people) is enthusiastic and eager to make Temple Emanu-El’s youth and family programs unique.

Before joining Temple Emanu-El, Tammy received her BA in Family Studies from the University of Maryland and then went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Kean University.

After finishing her MSW, Tammy worked as a Middle School Guidance Counselor at Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County. Her passion and love of children is what enticed her to take on this role. Being a Schechter alumnus of SSDS of Bergen County and SSDS of Essex and Union, she always knew that she wanted to work in the Jewish Community.  For two years Tamara’s contagious smile warmed the halls of SSDS.

A year later Tammy went on to receive her Substitute Teaching Certificate and spent some time at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades and Fort Lee Public Schools system as a substitute teacher.

Presently, you can find Tammy planning events for the entire Temple’s youth starting with the First grade all the way up to the 12th grade. She has successfully planned, directed and implemented the Temple’s Annual Hanukkah Bash’s and Purim Carnivals with special music band performances, boutiques and book fairs. Tammy says that working at Temple Emanu-El is a special opportunity for her to engage with children and teens while in a Jewish environment.

Tammy is married to Rob and they have two sons, Jake and Evan.
