Club 8 – 8th graders only

We are pleased to announce the continuation of our 8th grade program AKA Club 8.  This program features guest speakers, community service and an inviting social atmosphere.

Students meet one evening each month at the Temple or a congregant’s home from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. and on an additional evening monthly for a Kadima social event.  The monthly evening sessions begin with a pizza dinner and focus on a specific topic with a relevant guest speaker.  Some topics include:  Inter-religious Dating and Marriage, Anti-Semitism on Campus, Jewish Views on Piercing and Tattoos, Kosher Cooking, and Jews in Entertainment/Sports.

Tammy Ween, Temple Emanu-El’s Youth and Family Programs Coordinator will supervise and moderate each session.

We also anticipate that students will reach out into the community and do some volunteer projects on a group basis.  These projects will be decided by the participants themselves.

We have formulated this program as a means to keep our children engaged in a dialogue about subjects of interest to Jewish teens, as well as a way to maintain their connection to Temple Emanu-El and their peers in the Temple community.  The fee for this program is $180.00 for temple members.  The first session will be on Tuesday, September 13 from 5:30-7:00PM at Cold Stone Creamery in Closter.  If you are interested please contact Tammy Ween at 201-750-9997 or .
