8th and 9th Grade "Atid" Program

Many of our 8th graders and up are interested in continuing their Jewish education in a meaningful way. Thus, we have created a continuing class geared for 8th graders and up.

The Atid Program is an informal, post religious school program for students in 8th grade and up. The program, now entering its third year, gives students the opportunity to get together in a laid back atmosphere to learn, schmooze, pray at Minyan, go on trips and interact with other like minded students.

In the first three years of the program, the group studied the Holocaust and Israel and always kept up with current events as they related to Israel and Judaism. In this 2011-2012 year, the group will be focusing on Jewish values and ethics and we will be delving into some deep Jewish questions and issues. The group will continue to monitor and discuss Jewish current events and any other issues that arise.

This class will have NO homework and NO assignments.  The group is coordinated and led by Adam Schwartzbard, one of our esteemed 6th and 7th grade teachers and also gets frequent visits from Rabbi Kirshner, Rabbi Suson and Tammy Ween, Temple Emanu-El’s Youth and Family Programs Coordinator.

The class will meet on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30 PM and will include dinner.  This program is free for temple members.  The first class will be on Thursday, September 22 (note this change for this week only).

Please e-mail Tammy at  for more information.
