KESEM Connection
Temple Emanu-El’s Religious School combines active learning with rich Jewish content. Our program is designed to create a strong foundation for a lifetime of Jewish expression. Shabbat is our cornerstone. Our Families are encouraged to participate regularly in our welcoming, user-friendly services.
Our K-5 program, The Kesem* Connection, is designed to build ruach (spirit), and teach core skills in the most effective and enjoyable way possible. Each classroom is equipped with giant murals, chalkboard walls and three self-guided learning stations; focused on Torah, Tefila and the Aleph-Bet. Our upper grade programs progressively challenge our students with new and deeper material. Our third through fifth grade curriculum includes Jewish history, life-cycle and values. Our students become prayer leaders from their first class and incrementally build their skills and confidence with dovening (prayer). Our Middle school years address student’s concerns by bringing a Jewish lens to real life problems.
Jennifer Levine, Temple Emanu-El’s Education Director says, “Our families understand that all of our students – from our Kindergarteners all the way to our High School students need to actively engage in the learning process.” Levine, an experienced Jewish educator with a strong background in the creative arts, along with a team of highly skilled educators, is leading the way with an original and unique learning environment at Temple Emanu-El.
School is in session for K and First on Sunday mornings. Second-Fifth meet Wednesday afternoons and Sunday morning, and Sixth and Seventh meet Tuesday evenings.
