President's Message

Leadership Development: for Now and for the Future
As President, one of my key roles is volunteer leadership development. I attend to this responsibility through the active identification and cultivation of volunteers for both leading committees and projects. This includes strategic planning for our religious school, special events, fundraising and everything in between.
Quite frankly I am in the fortunate position of being President of a shul that is home to many, many talented individuals and most are eager to get involved. A great example is the recently established Young Leadership Council which is part of the Campaign for the Next Generation. This is a group of volunteers that have committed to the Campaign for the Next Generation and are now helping to engage their peers in doing the same. Even if you have given to the Campaign it’s not always easy reaching out to others. It takes time, persistence and patience. I hope you will be open to meeting with members of the Young Leadership Council when they call you to make a campaign gift; contributions at all levels are essential. My family has already made our commitment and I hope that yours will too.
As we start the secular New Year I want to thank you for making my job as your President so meaningful and thank you for all that you do to make Temple Emanu-El home.
