Leaders Who Inspire Community

This past Saturday evening, we celebrated our Temple's 85th Annual Gala Dinner Dance, honoring Mark and Debra Hirschberg with the Founders' Award, Michael Kollender with the Community Leadership Award, and Donna Weintraub with the Young Leadership Award. This was certainly one of the high points of my Presidency as we came together to celebrate the achievements and dedication of each of these people, raise essential funds for the congregation and have fun.

It would be impossible to truly communicate my respect and admiration for all that the honorees have collectively done for our community in just a few short words. In fact, I hope that the elegance and spirit of the evening conveyed just how much you all mean to me and our Temple community. In agreeing to be honored you again stood before us as role models of what it means to be leaders of a community and how to do it with love, humility and little regard for what you receive in return. You have also helped us raise essential funds for our operating budget through your personal contributions to this event and the "elbow grease" you put in to working with the Journal committee to encourage congregants, friends and others to support the Temple.

I am humbled an most grateful for all of the energy and enormous commitment of time that you have dedicated to our shul. And, I want to acknowledge your families for enabling you, and in fact encouraging you, to give your all to Temple Emanu-El.

Lisa Beth, Benjamin, Jordan and I send our love and best wishes that you and our entire community continue to go from strength to strength.

Sincerely,

Greg Meisel
