Shalom and welcome to Temple Emanu-El’s web site. For more than 85 years, we've sustained an atmosphere of warmth and spirituality that brings families back from generation to generation. Like our Temple, we hope that you find this site inviting and resourceful. However, nothing can substitute for the warmth and magic of physically being part of our community. Whether studying in an adult education class, praying in one of our Shabbat services, attending a youth program or participating in a social program at the Temple, the spirit of Temple Emanu-El will make you feel closer to home and closer to God. We hope that this site brings you closer too.

Temple Emanu-El and the TECIA Center is proud to share three upcoming Temple Trips to Israel. Each of these trips cater to a different demographic. There is a short description of each trip and its dates. Follow the link to learn more about it.
I can tell you that while our Temple stands with Israel, there is nothing quite like standing IN Israel.
Family Trip This 10 day, multigenerational trip is geared for B'nai Mitzvah families and is ideal for a first taste of the Holy Land. We will climb Masada, float in the Dead Sea, visit an Israeli Army base, raft down the River Jordan, celebrate B'nai Mitzvah at the Kotel and reflect at Yad Vashem. Our bellies will be full from delicious food and our souls will be full from time with old friends and new and memories made in Israel.
"The Temple Emanu-El trip to Israel transformed my family. There are no words to describe walking shoulder to shoulder with our kids, Israeli soldiers and fellow congregants as we sang and danced at the Western Wall. It was an experience that I replay in my mind's eye daily and will cherish all the years of my life." Andi Wolfer 2010 Israel Family Trip Participant
Women's Mission to Poland This 8 day trip to Poland and Israel will be a time when we walk in the footsteps of Eastern European Jewry and celebrate the rich history and impact of Jewish life in Poland as well as mark the atrocities of the Holocaust. We will spend time in the old city of Krakow and visit Oskar Schindler's factory, we will also see the home and burial grounds of Jewish leaders and thinkers as well as see remnants of the wall of the Warsaw Ghetto and the bunker of the Ghetto Uprising. The Auschwitz, Birkenau and Treblinka camps will be visited. Restored Synagogues will be prayed at and we will bring back Jewish song to these renewed places of worship. From Poland we will celebrate Shabbat in Israel and witness the start up country that has made Israel a light onto other nations. We will sing, Am Yisrael Chai on the coast and at the tech centers as well as the Western Wall and celebrate the Jewish indomitable spirit. The bond the women will share on this trip will grow in their sense of community and deepen individually and collectively their connection with our history and destiny. "Past and Present and Future: My Jewish identity has been indelibly etched by these three ingredients. I am hopeful to take advantage of the opportunity to explore a part of the world where so much of my own personal history as well as important pieces of Jewish history reside. Making this exploration with a group of women with whom I have a Jewish and a community connection will deepen bonds and friendships and allow us all to be a part of our shared future." Andrea Strahl 2014 Women's Mission Co-Chair
If you have been to Israel, chances are by the time you board the plane you are dreaming of ways and times to come back. If so, Temple Emanu-El's winter trip is the perfect solution for you. It is 9 days in Israel but with a unique twist; we will visit new and exciting sites while enjoying some of our favorites too. This trip will include exciting activities like rappelling down the Mitzpe Crater in the south of Israel, surfing in the Mediterranean and riding Segways through the Old City of Jerusalem. During this trip, families revisiting Israel will have the opportunity to celebrate B'nai Mitzvah of children and or grandchildren and bond with Temple members.
"Since boarding the plane to go home from our Temple family trip almost four years ago, we have been dreaming of opportunities to return and renew our appreciation with our homeland. Israel is different than other places. We want to create an ethic where Israel is more than a location on the map for our kids; we want it to be a place where they are at home." Dr. Jeff Pavell 2014 Returning Trip Participant
